Cheap Electric Guitars

Guitars come in all shapes and sizes and they also come with wildly differing price tags. There are millions of guitar enthusiasts, whether they like to play as a hobby or professionally in a band. It is possible to buy a cheap electric guitar that works well, so almost anyone can afford to become a proficient player. The difference between a cheap and an expensive model is the string and wood quality. The sound is very similar and the way the guitars look is not too different either. You can expect to pay anything from $120 for a decent electric guitar but it is best to spend a minimum of $150 if you want something that is going to last more than twelve months. The very cheapest electric guitars are constructed with very cheap materials and the sound is below par - very twangy and amateur. The cheapest available ones also look cheap which might make you feel uncomfortable in front of an audience and thereby affect your performance. If you want something cheap yet reasonably good, I would advise you to spend perhaps $200 if that is within your price range. You can get something that is fair to good quality for that amount.

Recommended brands include Crafter, Encore, Stagg, Vintage, Gould, Cruiser by Crafter, Dean, Peavey, Yamaha, Ibanez, Carlsbro and Squire. Stagg gives you good value for money and the Vintage; Epiphone and Yamaha guitars are perhaps the most popular and well known makes of moderately priced electric guitars on the market.

You can buy a guitar from the Internet, from Ebay or equivalent, or you can visit a music shop. Both methods have pros and cons. If you decide to buy over the internet, you might have to wait a while for delivery and when the guitar does arrive, you might not like the way it feels or sounds. If you go to a music shop, you can get advice and try out the different guitars they have but beware of pushy sales assistants who are more interested in their sales commission than selling you the best guitar for you. If you do decide to buy online, you can visit Google or a similar search engine, type in ´cheap electric guitar´ and thousands will flash up before your eyes. If you are lucky, you can find a real bargain but do try to get something in one of the brands I have mentioned if you can.

Whatever you decide to do, the important thing to remember is that it is possible to buy yourself a good quality electric guitar without going bankrupt. When you achieve superstardom in a band, then you can splash out on that $10,000 guitar but until then you need something to practice on and that easily can be achieved with $200 or less. Don't forget you can always upgrade in a year or so, if you want something a bit better.
