Electric Guitar Cases And Bags

Guitar Cases and bags are very important accessories for guitarists to buy. They greatly reduce the damage to your guitar while it is being stored or while you travel with it. There are a variety of cases and bags available to choose from.

Carry bags and Gig bags are simple guitar shape covers. They often come with shoulder straps. Gig bags have better padding than the normal carry bag, so they provide more protection against bumps and scratches. Having said that, neither bag is very good at protecting guitars against knocks. If you were to purchase a bag, then you would want to buy a Gig bag. The normal carry bag just does not protect your guitar enough.

There are several types of cases, including Molded cases, Flight cases, Hard-foam cases and Hard-shell cases. Molded cases are mostly made from rigid plastics. They are lightweight and waterproof but will warp if they are exposed to extreme heat. Flight cases are designed for professional road users. Flight cases are considered to provide the most protection to electric guitars, however they are a little on the heavy side. Hard-foam cases are blocks of hard foam covered with woven nylon. They are lightweight and well padded, but they are not as strong or rigid as Hard-shell cases. This means that they will not protect your guitar from heavy objects falling on it. Hard-shell cases are made from wood that is covered with vinyl. They offer good protection from knocks and scratches, but they are heavy to carry around and will get damaged with excess amounts of water.
