Electric Guitar Stands and String Swings

There are times when you do not need you guitar for a short period of time, such as when playing gigs. During these times, some people have been known to just lean their guitar against an amplifier. This is probably the most common cause for broken necks on guitars. The solution is a guitar stand, which is a stand that makes your guitar more secure. Even so, you still have to place the stand in an out of the way place, as the guitar can sometimes be bumped off of it if you are not careful. A friend of mine had that happen to him and now only uses swing strings (wall hangers). Guitar stands should be sturdy and have padding to support the neck. Examples of guitar stands and a swing string can be seen below. You can perform a power search with "guitar stands" in the search bar on the left menu to find other types of guitar stands and string swings.

Shubb Talon Electric Guitar Stand Black

Shubb Talon Electric Guitar Stand Black

The TAL-1 Talon Guitar Stand is designed for thin-bodied instruments such as solidbody electric guitars or basses. It features a unique design which protects it from damage. If the stand is stepped on, or otherwise forced beyond its normal open position, the 2 parts are designed to separate rather than break. They are easily rejoined in seconds, and the Talon is as good as new. The Talon folds with one hand in a single motion. When folded, it is about an inch thick at its thickest point and easily fits in the pouch of most gig bags.
